The entire field was planted with squash and melons in just one work session. Good job. (Notice the fine looking high tunnel in the background).
Insuring that crops are in very straight rows enables cultivating with the Williams on the tractor which reduces the amount of hand weeding needed. It also makes the use of wheel hoe cultivation easier.
Note how Peter uses an ordinary bungee cord under the tractor as a guide in this video.
On Thursday evening, with the help of many hands, the plastic was put on our new High Tunnel. It’s a definite milestone in this BIG project. It really looks like a high tunnel now. Although it “looks” finished, there is still a lot to be done, doors; roll up sides; add the skirt, and add topsoil. It wont’ be long now.
A special thanks to Karl Milikowski who provided hands on experience. Thanks Karl!
There was a very good turnout for our third crop mob of the 2017 season. Many flats of plants from the greenhouse are now in the ground. A lot of tedious weeding was done and the beds look so much better now.
The next scheduled crop mob is Sunday July 16.
